1. Chris Boucher – 27 years old – PF/C

2019-20 stats – 62 GP – 6.6 PPG – 4.5 RPG – 0.4 APG – .472 FG% – .322 3P% – .784 FT%

Career stats – 91 GP – 5.5 PPG – 3.7 RPG – 0.3 APG – .465 FG% – .321 3P% – .794 FT%

At my number one and final spot on this list of three potential Most Improved Player candidates from the Toronto Raptors next season, I have the man who just re-signed with the organization, Chris Boucher. Boucher may be the Raptor that breaks out the most this upcoming season and it’s for multiple reasons.

The Raptors lost both Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol in free agency but they did sign Aron Baynes and also re-signed Chris Boucher, so by the looks of it Baynes and Boucher will be the top two centers for the team next season.

With Boucher getting a bigger role on the team next season, he has an opportunity to have a breakout year. After coming off a season where he only averaged 13.2 MPG (minutes per game) he still managed to put up a decent stat line of 6.6 PPG – 4.5 RPG – 0.4 APG and shooting splits of .472 FG% – .322 3P% – .784 FT%. It’s almost guaranteed to say that Boucher may come close to averaging double these stats since he’s going to be getting around 20 minutes of playing time a night now as the probable backup center to Aron Baynes.

Boucher also plays a great defensive game as he averaged 1.0 BPG this past season after only averaging 0.4 the season prior, like I’ve been saying the more minutes you give to a guy like Chris Boucher the more he’s going to show us and prove us that he deserves to be on the big stage now, especially with Ibaka and Gasol both gone as we know.

I think it is safe to say Boucher will definitely improve this coming season and may even break out big enough to become an early candidate for Most Improved Player along with possibly OG Anunoby as well. (Stats from Basketball-Reference.com)

Next. Toronto Raptors: Pascal Siakam’s success will go as far as his shooting takes him. dark
