#3: Toronto Raptors have done it again with Malachi Flynn

Bobby Webster and Masai Ujiri’s ability to find underrated talent is a thing of beauty. Malachi Flynn is another name added to the long list of steals made by the Raptors front office. As mentioned before, Flynn had an impressive outing in his Raptors debut against the Charlotte Hornets. Proving to be the embodiment of what the Raptors franchise is all about.

The 22-year-old rookie brings what the Raptors love most, and that is defense. Flynn was the Mountain West Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in his senior year at San Diego State. You know what you’re getting from Flynn which is defense, however, his offensive game was very impressive.

Arguably the most impressive aspect of Flynn’s game against the Hornets was his confidence. Flynn looked extremely poised for a rookie. Very similar to his Raptor teammate Fred Vanvleet in his rookie season.

Flynn tallied 9 points and 4 assists while being a game-high +35 on the court. All of Flynn’s points came from three-pointers. These weren’t just caught and shoot threes, Flynn showed extreme confidence in his game with a 26 foot pull up jumper. Showing signs of being a dependable asset for the Raptors bench for the season.
