The Toronto Raptors continue to struggle with a devastating loss to the Boston Celtics.

The Toronto Raptors suffer another detrimental scoring drought leading to the Boston Celtics coming away with a 126-114 win in Tampa Bay. The run made by the Raptors bench wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit the Raptors buried themselves in. Losing hasn’t been attached to Toronto since 2013, but this season has been tough for the Raptors.

Despite the loss, here are some key takeaways from the Raptors Monday night action.

#1: Putting their stamp on the game early

The Raptors came out the gates with fire in their eyes. Toronto jumped out to a 9 point lead early, leading 32-23 after the first quarter.

Toronto started the game shooting 8-9 from the field, and looked as if they weren’t going to miss a shot the entire game. Getting to a good start is always going to be a key for the Raptors to come out victorious, and doing so against the Celtics was huge in their efforts

Three-point shooting was one of the biggest reasons as to why the Raptors were able to get ahead early. Fred Vanvleet was on fire from beyond the arc going 4-5 in the opening period. Vanvleet picked up where he left off Saturday night against the Pelicans, with 14 points in the first quarter on Monday night.

Pascal Siakam’s jump shot looked like it was back to old form, going 2-4 from outside. When Siakam is providing a lift on offense, the Raptors are a dangerous team. Pascal getting comfortable early, will be essential in Siakam getting his rhythm back. Starting off the game strong is great, but that level of play needs to carry on for the rest of the game.
