Toronto Raptors offseason regret No. 3: Not getting Bradley Beal

Very rarely does one of the best scorers in the game remain on the trade block for what feels like an eternity, but trade rumors have swarmed around Beal for the last two seasons. Considering how Washington has sunk to the bottom of the NBA ocean this season, there is a chance they could still jettison Beal.

The Raptors will undoubtedly make a play for him, as a lack of star power and clutch scoring when the chips are down has hurt them this seaspn. However, due to Ujiri not making a move this offseason, Beal’s price has gone up significantly.

Beal is leading the NBA in scoring by a wide margain, as his 33.3 points per game average could help him top 30 per game for the second consecutive season. Given how the Wizards are headed for a rebuild, Beal will no doubt cost multiple players and first-round picks, ammunition Toronto might be unwilling to surrender.

A normally aggressive front office decided to sit out Beal trade talks, and that ambivalence has led to Beal’s stock rising, making it more unlikely that he’ll end up wearing Raptors red and black anytime soon.
