No. 3: Pascal Siakam vs Brooklyn Nets (Feb 5th, 2021)

One of the biggest stories for Toronto early in the season was the struggles of Siakam. Too often he was forcing outside looks instead of getting to the paint, and it was hurting the entire team. This is important to note when discussing his amazing performance against Brooklyn because he all but abandoned the 3-point shot and went back to his bread and butter.

After mixed signals and confusion between the league and the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant was taken out of this game in the third quarter due to COVID protocols, and Toronto never looked back, clutching on to a 123-117 victory.

For Pascal individually, he finished with 33 points, 11 rebounds and six assists on 12-23 shooting. These numbers are impressive, but the biggest takeaway from his stat line was the fact that he only took two 3-pointers. 21 of Pascal’s 23 shots were from inside the arc, and that proves just how aggressive he was on this night.

Toronto as a whole were humming on offence, but Pascal’s game individually was reminiscent of the Siakam Raptors fans were accustomed to seeing before the bubble. He was relentless, and he was the biggest reason Toronto walked away with a win against one of the top teams in the conference.
