Toronto Raptors: 3 reasons to make a trade at NBA trade deadline
3. The Toronto Raptors need more bench depth
If the Raptors cannot get a big, then trade to get more depth on the bench. Defensively, the bench is descent. Offensively, not so much. There are a couple of players who are doing well on the bench like Chris Boucher, Yuta Watanabe, DeAndre Bembry, and Stanley Johnson. Everyone else has been hit or miss.
So, who could Toronto get to strengthen their bench? One name that makes a lot of sense is Troy Brown Jr. from the Washington Wizards. JJ Redick from the New Orleans Pelicans wouldn’t be the worst option in the world either, as the Raptors could use a veteran with some shooting off of the bench.
The Toronto Raptors’ bench is subpar right now
The Raptors can’t rely on Norman Powell and Pascal Siakam to keep bailing them out. Creating a quality bench is the only way for Toronto to get their stuff together and compete with the rest of the contenders in the East.
Despite their record, they can still make it to the playoffs. They need to make a trade at the trade deadline to improve those chances. Whether it’s getting a big man or improve the bench, they must make a trade next week. Get a big first because they need one badly. If not, improve the bench.
