Raptors trade partner No. 2: Phoenix Suns

After years of futility, the Suns are in second place in the West, as Monty Williams has made Devin Booker into one of the game’s premier shooting guards. The addition of Chris Paul at point guard has revitalized the entire franchise, No. 1 overall pick DeAndre Ayton remains a double-double machine, and Mikal Bridges is becoming an elite two-way player.

The Suns also have plenty of depth, as Cameron Johnson and Dario Saric give Phoenix some quality reserves. Even with that quality, James Jones could try to add someone like Powell to the fold, as he is the knockdown shooter that could make their offense that much more lethal when the playoffs come around.

What could Phoenix give the Toronto Raptors?

Unlike teams like the Lakers and Clippers, the Suns haven’t mortgaged a half-decade of draft capital in order to acquire a star. With several first-round picks to be had in the next few years, Toronto could build another dynasty on the back of these picks.

Phoenix, who likely will only be interested in Powell, could even kick in a rotation player if it will help the money match up. Doing so could give the Raptors a potential piece to build around for 2021 and beyond, all the while helping the Suns try to keep their magical season alive.
