The March 25th trade deadline will arrive Thursday, and the Toronto Raptors appear closer to selling than ever before. While they could make the postseason, the Raptors’ draft plans are starting to kick into high gear, as they have to be getting a head start on scouting stars like Cade Cunningham and potential diamonds in the rough like Greg Brown or Kai Jones from Texas.

They have been linked to deals with Cleveland for Andre Drummond or even a deal with the Miami Heat involving Goran Dragic and Tyler Herro. Norman Powell and Kyle Lowry’s names have been discussed in many a rumor in recent weeks.

It is clear whether the Raptors try to upgrade their roster or stand pat, they need frontcourt players. In their most recent and eighth consecutive loss to the Cavaliers 116-105, Toronto used Pascal Siakam as a center.

The team is among the ten worst in the NBA, 11th in the Eastern Conference, and out of the playoff picture.

The Toronto Raptors could draft in the lottery for the first time in years

It leaves Raptors’ nation one focal point, especially if the trade deadline comes and goes without significant addition to the roster, and that is the 2021 NBA Draft. The last time the Raptors had a lottery pick was in the 2016 NBA Draft when they selected Jacob Poeltl ninth.

Texas, who was eliminated from the NCAA March Madness Tournament on Saturday night in a 53-52 heartbreaking loss to Abeline Christian, have two big men who could help the Raptors soon. They are power forward Greg Brown and center Kai Jones. Which one is a better fit for the Raptors?
