Raptors draft: 1 prospect from each Final Four team the Raptors could draft
By Mike Luciano
Houston: SG Quentin Grimes
Another transfer, Grimes was supposed to be Bill Self’s next big prize at Kansas, but he transferred after a lackluster season in Lawrence. Grimes landed in Houston, and he has improved on the offensive end in each season.
Grimes averaged just 8.4 points per game on 38% shooting at Kansas, but he improved his averages to 12.1 points per game in his first season with Houston and 18.0 per contest this year. With a lethal 3-point shot and enough craftiness with the ball to finish inside, Grimes will assuredly hear his name called in the draft at some point.
Raptors draft: Quentin Grimes and his scoring could help Toronto
Grimes might not end up in the lottery due to the fact that he isn’t the best defender in the world, his shooting percentages weren’t the most efficient, and he is a junior, which limits his offensive upside. None of that should deter Toronto, however, if the NBA makes the egregious mistake of letting him slip to the second round.
Grimes is looking like the star that he was supposed to be at Kansas, and the NBA has assuredly take notice of his improvement over the last few seasons. The Raptors could continue to improve his offense, making him a valued member of their core going forward.
