Toronto Raptors draft target: Marcus Carr, PG, Minnesota
Another Canadian who just finished playing his junior season is Toronto native, Marcus Carr. The six-foot-two point guard for the Minnesota Golden Gophers has recorded an impressive stat line this season. In 29 games, he averaged 19.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
Carr is a walking bucket, able to score in every different way. His ability to slash and score in bunches comes despite having an unimpressive field goal percentage. He drained 38.5% of his shots and 31.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Toronto Raptors draft: Marcus Carr is a potential star.
As a sophomore, Carr looked better on the perimeter, hitting 36.1% of his outside shots. This season, what Carr lacked in accuracy he made up in defense. He was given difficult assignments throughout the season, allowing him to show that he has what it takes to shut down opponents.
The Raptors could see the potential and upside in Carr’s game and look for him in the second round. It was reported that Carr has entered the transfer portal, which means that if he withdrawals from the NBA draft, he would be a very sought-after player in college
As the Golden Gophers’ point guard, Carr showed that he has the ability to be a strong playmaker which compliments his ability to score. He will pick his spots and facilitates the ball well in order to get his teammates some touches. For a player known for his scoring, this is an important skill that NBA teams will be hunting in the draft.
