Toronto Raptors draft target: Josh Primo, SG, Alabama

From Toronto to Alabama, Primo is living out his basketball dreams. He’s got just one more step to achieve his goal of taking reps on NBA hardwood.

In late April, the 6-6 guard announced via his Instagram account that he was going to test the NBA draft waters. He is the second member of the Crimson Tide, the first being his teammate Jaden Shackelford, to decide to submit himself to the draft process. There would be no better organization than his hometown Dinos.

Toronto Raptors draft: Josh Primo is a promising scorer.

Primo played his freshman year for Nate Oats, and it went well after an outstanding high school season while attending Royal Crown Academic School in Scarborough, Ontario.

As a 16-year-old, he was recruited to the Canadian Men’s Basketball National Team. He played with them in Greece during the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup. Primo played a minor role in that tournament and averaged 4.2 points per game.

In Alabama, Primo showed that he has an excellent jumper and great speed on the court. The lefty played in 30 games and averaged 22.4 minutes per contest. He recorded 8.1 points, 3.4 boards, and 0.8 dimes on 43.1% field goal shooting.

Known as a three-point marksman, he had a 38.1% success rate from long distance. Should Primo get drafted, he will need to bulk up to help him bang in the NBA.
