ROTY: Malachi Flynn

This should be a no-brainer as well given that Malachi Flynn is basically the only rookie that has played a good amount of games for the Raptors this season. After being the Raptors first-round pick from this past NBA Draft, Flynn showed fans what he’s capable of doing at the NBA level during the preseason and it honestly got fans excited about him.

He was then sent down to the G League to play for Raptors 905 for a bit, but then got the call up back to the Raptors due to multiple injuries to the team including guys like Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry.

Despite not seeing a lot of playing time on the floor at the beginning of the season, Flynn has still managed to put together some good games with limited minutes on the court.

Malachi Flynn is proving the Toronto Raptors right.

This season he is averaging 6.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting the ball not the greatest from the field, but from deep he’s shot the ball pretty good in my opinion.

Although you may be thinking a player averaging that stat line might not be the greatest, his numbers in games where he started are much better. In 11 games he’s started in, Flynn has averaged 11.8 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting the ball 40% from the field, 40% from three, and 82% from the free-throw line.

The ROTY Award for the Raptors should go to Flynn, and it’s a no-brainer at this point. It’s definitely going to be exciting to see what he’s capable of doing in his second year in the league with potentially more playing time next season. Hopefully, the team is back in Toronto too.
