The Raptors could be interested in signing another scorer to give the bench more depth. McDermott is having the best year of his career statistically, averaging 13.6 points with a 53.2 field goal percentage.

A solid shooter, he shot over 40% from 3-point range in four straight seasons before this season. If there isn’t a lot of demand for McDermott, the Raptors might have to seriously consider signing him, as he could be the bench sharpshooter that could’ve helped the Raptors win an extra game or two over the course of the 2021 season.

Doug McDermott could be a sniper for the Toronto Raptors.

In this free agency market, there aren’t many forwards that can shoot the ball like McDermott that are also realistic options for the Raptors. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Otto Porter Jr. might be asking for more money than they can offer, and they can’t shoot like McDermott.

A cheaper alternative to McDermott would be someone like Nicolas Batum. However, Batum is near the end of his career and who knows if he has more than one or two years left. McDermott could hop right in, start hitting threes, and pull down some timely rebounds here and there while showing the versatility some bench studs lacked.
