Rivers is a versatile player that can play both guard positions. Nick Nurse has never been afraid to play multiple point guards at the same time, and Rivers has plenty of experience playing off the ball because of his time in Houston with James Harden.

Rivers is also a player that’s bounced around the league and has seen his minutes fluctuate, not from season to season, but night to night. Hopefully, Toronto can give him more consistency with regard to his role.

Austin Rivers might join the Toronto Raptors.

He can be another veteran that helps guide the Raptors’ young players and be a contributor off the bench that doesn’t need minutes, especially if Lowry leaves. Rivers would be a cheap addition that wouldn’t hurt the team’s ability to sign other free agents. With a lethal scoring touch when he gets hot, Rivers could leave Denver if Toronto shows gim the money.

Considering what the Raptors would be asking of him, there’s very little downside to signing Rivers. He could be the Jeremy Lin of next year’s team, providing a spark of scoring as a bench player when called upon.
