Very rarely are 23-year-old lottery picks that are fresh-off setting a new career-high in points per game considered almost mortal locks to find a new team as they hit free agency, but the Hornets have found a super-talented, super-young backcourt that Monk doesn’t seem to be a part of.

The Hornets have LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier ready to rock in the starting lineup, with RFA DeVonte’ Graham more likely to return than Monk, who tallied 11.7 points per game while making 40% of his 3-point attempts. That ability to run and gun could appeal to the Raptors given their style of play.

Malik Monk could hit his stride with the Toronto Raptors.

Monk made 40% of his 3-point attempts, by far the best percentage of his career, all while slightly reducing his turnover numbers. 11.7 points per game might not be what the Hornets expected from someone drafted that high, but considering how young he is, he has plenty of room to grow.

He is a restricted free agent, but the Raptors might be able to convince Charlotte to let him walk if they give him enough of an enticing contract. Monk would likely come off of the bench in Toronto as well as Charlotte, but the lack of perimeter talent on that second unit could help him get more shots up.
