1. Kelly Oubre, Golden State Warriors

After a breakout year in Phoenix last season, Oubre was able to translate his scoring over to Golden State as their one-year Band-Aid for Klay Thompson. Oubre averaged 15.4 points per game this season, and his solid production couldn’t have come at a better time considering his impending free agency.

Oubre, who earned $14 million last year, is eyeing a deal in around $20 million per year this offseason. The Raptors have some cash to spend, but that doesn’t mean that they need to splash their cash so frivolously, especially on a player with a very incongruous fit.

Kelly Oubre wouldn’t be worth a long multi-year contract for the Raptors.

The Raptors already anticipate bringing Gary Trent Jr. back as a restricted free agent. Resigning one solid shooter with some inconsistent defense makes sense, especially considering how old Trent is, but paying both of them despite their similar styles would be a very funky fit on this roster.

Oubre would be a humungous financial investment, and the Raptors have a cheaper and younger, albeit smaller, alternative in Trent. If Oubre’s value is approaching $20 million despite never hitting 20 points per game as a scorer in a season, the Raptors should stay far away from him this offseason.
