Toronto Raptors: 3 players to trade up for in NBA Draft second round
By Mike Luciano
2. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, PF, Villanova
In an age where incoming power forwards are getting smaller and more guard-like with each passing draft class, Robinson-Earl is a true throwback, as he can go to town in the low post while securing the paint on the defensive end of the floor and hoovering up as many rebounds as possible.
The Big East Player of the Year averaged 15.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, showing off the ability to create offense for himself, finish at all sorts of weird angles, and extend his jump shot to make him a threat to score from anywhere on the court. He can be plugged right into the rotation.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl would provide great value for the Raptors.
As we have outlined, he is not a perfect prospect, as his 3-point shooting took a major dip in the wrong direction, and his lack of one standout trait might scare some teams away if they want a raw mound of clay to mold into a star.
While choosing to gamble on a plus athlete or a developmental player might have some appeal for the Raptors at this stage, Robinson-Earl is as pro-ready a second-rounder as you’ll ever see, and that could sway the Raptors into taking someone who could be an instant member of the rotation.
