Grading every Raptors rotation player after surprising start to 2021-22
By Mike Luciano
Khem Birch
Birch hasn’t blown anyone away with his offensive skills, but considering how poor Toronto has been at times in the post during his absence, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the Raptors need what he brings to the table on the defensive end. Birch is borderline undroppable as far as the rotation is concerned.
Grade: B+
Precious Achiuwa
Achiuwa is one of the most frustrating players in the sport. One minute, he’ll run the floor and throw down a highlight-reel slam. The next, he’ll make the dumbest pass or hoist the worst shot attempt you’ve ever seen. While he’s done good things as a rebounder, his finishing has been pitiful at times.
Grade: C
Toronto Raptors big Precious Achiuwa needs to step his game up.
Chris Boucher
Outside of the deactivated Dragic, Boucher has been the worst player on the team this year. While he played very well against Philadelphia, he has been way too inconsistent on both ends. In a contract year, that certainly qualifies as less than ideal.
Grade: D+
Pascal Siakam
Haters might point to the fact that the Raptors lost both of their games with Siakam in the lineup or the fact that No. 43 didn’t look overly sharp, but considering that Pascal is recovering from a major shoulder operation, he might need some time before he gets back to his old form.
If he keeps stinking, we can revisit this grade later. However, it’s almost impossible to make firm assessments on his play based on just a handful of games. Let’s just hope that the Siakam we all know and love returns in the middle of the season.
