The Toronto Raptors have now taken two out of three against a quality Washington Wizards team, as Sunday night’s win was a wire-to-wire victory that showcased how deadly this team can be. If one player deserved any sort of player of the game honors, it was clearly Pascal Siakam.

Siakam led the team with 31 points while making 10 of his 21 shots from the field. While he has had some concerning offensive performances since returning to the lineup, last night showed that even a solid defense like Washington will struggle to stop him when he’s firing on all cylinders.

There are plenty of tangible basketball-centric explanations for Siakam’s big night. After all, he was more aggressive going to the basket and willing to go to the free throw line. In a bizarre turn, Siakam claimed that his secret ingredient for ripping Washington apart was…his niece peeing on him?

Siakam, who by his own admission does not like carrying newborns, claims that his brother told him he would be in for a big night after his unusual start to the day. Causation may not equal correlation in this instance, but if Siakam thinks that was what keyed his explosive night, let’s keep indulging him.

Raptors star Pascal Siakam went off against the Wizards.

The win against Washington saw plenty of quality performances from role players who were struggling of late. Precious Achiuwa recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Chris Boucher managed 14 points off the bench in one of his best individual games of the year.

Siakam carried the team, however, as his 24 points in the first half helped Toronto build a 21-point lead that they would not relinquish. The player we saw become an All-Star starter and NBA champion in a two-year stretch managed to show up in this game, as the Wizards had no idea how to stop him.

While Pascal would be well within his rights to never undergo this odd pregame ritual again given how disgusting it is, at least it was able to help him torch one of the best defenses in the league and lead Toronto to their second consecutive victory at home.

With a very tough schedule coming up that features dates with the Warriors, Nets, and Bulls, Toronto needs Siakam to do whatever it takes to continue putting up 30-point outbursts. Failing to do so could lead this team down yet another tough stretch defined by tough losses.
