DJ Wilson: Rebounding

Wilson may have been picked in the first round by Milwaukee in 2017, but he never developed the well-rounded offensive game the Bucks expected. Even after that failed stint and a brief fling with Houston, Wilson is getting back in the NBA thanks to his ability to clean the glass.

Wilson has averaged 9.0 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is a solid rate given how infrequent his playing time was in Milwaukee. The Raptors have struggled to secure rebounds for the last two seasons, and while Wilson may not necessarily be a long-term play, there is a ton to like about his production.

The Toronto Raptors could use a player like DJ Wilson.

Wilson nearly averaged a double-double (14.4 points, 9.6 rebounds per game) with the Oklahoma City Blue this season. Wilson’s shot and handle may not have come along, but he can still cause some havoc at and around the rim, which will make him a welcome sight in Toronto.

Wilson is a little rough around the edges, but he could help out a roster that has lost most of their key rebounders and interior finishers until they get their big names back. Maybe Wilson will earn a second 10-day in the same way Freddie Gillespie did?
