The Final Verdict

This seems like a deal that Toronto should not pursue. The Raptors might be overjoyed at the thought of potentially getting rid of the Dragic contract, but that doesn’t mean they should take the first deal that falls in front of them.

The Raptors might not be replacing VanVleet with the most traditional offensive attack in the world (Pascal Siakam running point), but Nick Nurse’s trickeration appears to be working for the time being. Burks could plug that hole, but his contract could become unsavory very quickly.

This Goran Dragic trade is too risky for the Toronto Raptors.

The Knicks shouldn’t be discarded as a potential trade partner, as they seem to be open for business and have several assets that could help a team make a run for the postseason. Burks, however, might not be in Toronto’s price range given the dearth of assets outside of Dragic.

The Dragic situation is not an enviable one. Toronto doesn’t want him, and he doesn’t want to be here. He won’t leave until they get a deal done or the front office throws their hands up in defeat. Barring the unforeseen, which is still in play, this deal likely is not going to happen.
