2. CJ McCollum to New York

UPDATE: Shams Charania confirmed that McCollum has been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a package centered around Josh Hart.

With Cam Reddish not in the rotation and the Knicks searching for anyone who can help them get back in the postseason picture, Marc Stein reported that New York has put some feelers out there with regards to McCollum. After the Norman Powell trade, Portland could be a motivated seller.

McCollum is on the verge of topping 20 points per game for the seventh consecutive season. With Evan Fournier and Alec Burks providing very little in the way of consistency, adding McCollum at the expense of some veterans and draft picks could help the Knicks make the play-in.

Toronto Raptors rumors: CJ McCollum would boost the Knicks.

A three-headed monster of McCollum, Julius Randle, and RJ Barrett could be enough to help them fight their way back into the Eastern playoff picture. With some extra draft capital they could use in trade talks, the Knicks might add a consistent scorer thanks to the Trail Blazers’ desire to rebuild.

The Raptors have gotten the better of the Knicks in their regular season matchups, but there exists a universe in which the Knicks add McCollum without giving up Randle or Barrett. This gives New York a stronger foundation than they had at the start of this season.
