1. DeAndre’ Bembry

Bembry played an entire season with the Raptors, but he didn’t experience a single game in Toronto. The former first-round pick averaged 5.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for the Raptors. He used those numbers to earn a spot as a backup behind Kevin Durant in Brooklyn.

With the Nets retooling in the wake of the James Harden trade, Bembry was released. Bembry’s per-game numbers are slightly better than what he put up in Toronto, making this a bit of a surprising cut. Is there a chance that Bembry gets another call from Masai Ujiri?

Toronto Raptors rumors: Would a DeAndre’ Bembry reunion happen?

Bembry has experience (albeit minimal) handling the ball last year, and he’s proven to be a solid defender in this league. While he attempts less than one 3-pointer per game, Bembry is making 42% of his shots from deep while making 57% of his shots overall. That production could earn him a role as a backup shooting guard.

Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. are being asked to go for over 20 a game every single night considering the lack of wing reinforcements behind them. Bembry should be able to link back up with the Raptors and start performing in a system he is familiar with.
