2. KZ Okpala

Okpala was picked high in the second round by the Heat, but he was eventually traded away in favor of another second-round pick. The Thunder waived him, meaning that there’s a young, switchable forward with room to grow out there for free if anyone wants to claim him.

Okpala has struggled on offense, but his playing time rarely gave him time to get into a groove. Fitting in perfectly with a Raptors team that would like to switch on defense as much as possible, Okpala might be worth developing into someone that eventually carves out a major role off of the bench.

KZ Okpala makes sense for the Toronto Raptors.

With Svi Mykhailiuk only gradually starting to get back into the rotation and Thad Young not the most effective 3-point shooter from a volume perspective, adding a stringy wing like Okpala to the mix could kick that offense up a notch during a pivotal part of their schedule.

Plenty of second-round picks found new life elsewhere after leaving a contending team that lacks available minutes. With one or two tweaks from Nurse, Okpala could breathe new life into his career while giving Toronto’s bench more depth.
