As we prepare ourselves for one of the most exciting times in basketball, Toronto Raptors fans have to keep track of the brightest stars from our side of the northern border. NBA Draft Classes in, and this year is no exception.

The Raptors still have a second-round pick that could be used to bring in yet another Canadian player. After Rexdale’s Dalano Banton made himself at home in the rotation, Toronto could find another contributor this year if they focus on local prospects.

Toronto needs players that can provide extra girth in the interior, improve the 3-point shooting, or become yet another solid perimeter defender to add to the pile. With possession of the No. 33 pick and an aggressive front office, don’t expect Toronto to stand still.

Let’s dive in to see which of the NCAA Canadians may yet make the biggest splash in the tournament. With some impactful Ontario and Quebec natives scheduled to eat up meaningful minutes, Toronto will not be short on options.

Top Canadian draft prospects for Toronto Raptors fans in March Madness.

Caleb Houstan

A long, smooth shooter on the wing, Houstan’s jump shot is his selling point and will keep him alive in the eyes of first-round scouts this summer. That brand of off-ball long-range scoring will always be valuable at the NBA level. The question is what else Houstan can bring to the table.

Houston, a high school teammate of Scottie Barnes, has plenty of talent, size, touch, and moves on and off the ball. However, he still lacks an elite feel for the game to pair with his skills. This is exacerbated by some less than spectacular defensive results during his time with the Wolverines.

Caleb Houstan will bring shooting to the Toronto Raptors.

A young prospect, Houstan may benefit from a second year at Michigan. He needs to take some more time to tighten the hinges and get his field goal percentage up. Still, Houstan can go off on any given night, and that could help Toronto snag him with their second-round pick.

His outside game combined with his new responsibilities as an offensive initiator only raises the ceiling on this already intriguing prospect. He has a lot going for him, but simultaneously a lot to learn. Either way, his potential is one of the highest in his class at his position.
