3. Pistons ditch Jerami Grant

We weren’t huge fans of trading for Grant at the deadline, as concerns about his fit and trade value were just too great. However, if Toronto can steal Grant at a discounted price and open up enough space on the roster to make a move for him, he could give them another tremendous iso scorer with positional versatility.

Grant is averaging 19.4 points per game on 42% shooting, but it’s clear that he is falling out of favor in Detroit. With Cade Cunningham emerging as a star, role players like Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart asserting themselves, and a very high lottery pick coming their way, the Pistons could turn the page on the Grant era.

Would Jerami Grant fit on the Toronto Raptors?

Asking Grant to assume a Sixth Man role could be tough given his financial obligations and the fact he would have to accept a major decline in scoring. If he agrees to these terms, Toronto might just pick up another 6-9 wing with defensive versatility to add to the pile.

Players like Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby have very few direct parallels across the NBA due to their uniqueness. Grant is one of the few that fits that archetype. Grant would be a major boost in the shooting department while bringing some expert defensive intelligence to the table.
