1. Precious Achiuwa

Achiuwa struggled early in his Raptors career, as his solid rebounding and defense were overshadowed by a concerning lack of finishing ability close to the rim. After the All-Star break, Achiuwa has totally remade his game. He’s moved away from being a rim-running dunker and transitioned to a pick-and-pop sniper.

Achiuwa is averaging 13.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game since February 26. Not only is Achiuwa taking four 3-pointers per game, but he’s making them at a 42% clip. The Achiuwa we saw earlier in the year is completely gone, as the transformation into a solid shooter is complete.

The Toronto Raptors have leaned on Precious Achiuwa.

While Achiuwa has consistently received high marks for his defense during his time in college and his single season with Miami, he’s become such a unique weapon on that end that he’s asking to be put on some of Toronto’s toughest opponents.

Masai Ujiri knew he was taking a big risk when he added Achiuwa, as his offensive game was severely underdeveloped. Looking at what he’s become in such a short amount of time, Precious is looking like yet another victory for Toronto’s sparkling player development culture.
