MVP: Pascal Siakam

Siakam might not have made the All-Star team. but his second-half surge has been so dominant that anyone leaving him off of their 2021-22 All-NBA ballot is making a grave miscalculation. Simply put, he’s been a mercurial scorer, active defender, and team leader.

Siakam averaged 22.8 points (which was a fraction less than his career-best mark of 22.9) to go along with new personal best marks in rebounds (8.5) and assists (5.3) per game. The Raptors went from a play-in team to a No. 5 seed as a result of Siakam putting up gaudy numbers.

Pascal Siakam has been the leader of the Toronto Raptors.

With uncommon efficiency, unparalleled defensive versatility among power fowards, and a style of leadership that has really resonated, Siakam has proven to be the team’s MVP this season. Even after turning 28, Siakam is adding new dimensions to his game.

Siakam’s points per game average is the 10th-best mark in Raptors history. The only other players with multiple entries in that category are Vince Carter and DeMar DeRozan. As unbelievable as it would have sounded just a few years ago, Siakam is starting to edge closer to that rarified tier.
