2. Shake Milton, Philadelphia 76ers
Milton has a club option for next season that Philadelphia could decide to pick up. Even though it’s around $2 million, the fact that James Harden is likely going to pick up a $47 million player option could make it more challenging for Daryl Morey to retain everyone from last year’s team. That’s where Toronto steps in.
Milton has averaged 10.4 points per game on 45/37/82 shooting splits over the last three years. Even though he lost many shots after the Harden addition, Milton’s scoring is still promising enough to have the dice rolled on him by a front office begging for some more bench consistency.
Shake Milton could fill holes on the bench for the Toronto Raptors.
Milton is coming off of one of the worst seasons of his Philly tenure, as his efficiency from 3-point range dropped off. Milton was not a part of Philadelphia’s playoff rotation, and Toronto will likely ask more of him in the postseason than just being a uniformed spectator in warmups.
Milton was by no means a dominant 76ers player, but he did show enough as a bench player over the last few years to at least deserve consideration as a low-cost fill-in option. Taking something away from the 76ers (however small it may be) and bringing it to the Raptors could give them a small boost in the standings.
