The Toronto Raptors have a rock-solid starting lineup full of versatile forwards, with OG Anunoby standing out as one of the best and most consistent players in that group. As unlikely as it may sound, Anunoby’s name came up in the offseason trade rumor mill thanks to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer.

Fischer reported that league executives believe Anunoby is dissatisfied with his role on the Raptors. The Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers have already been mentioned as potential landing spots for Anunoby if Masai Ujiri is interested in their trade packages.

Gauging Anunoby’s value could be difficult. While he’s an ascending young player with proven excellence on both ends, he is a serious injury concern at the moment. While some might compare him to Pistons standout Jerami Grant, the latest buzz suggests that Anunoby’s value far exceeds the Detroit standout.

According to Fisher, Anunoby will be worth more in trade talks than what Detroit was asking for in exchange for Grant. With Grant allegedly worth either two first-round picks or a first-round pick and a promising rookie contact, Anunoby will undoubtedly be a prized commodity on the market.

A trade coming to fruition is still unlikely due to Anunonby’s fit on the Raptors, but a move away can’t be discarded as a possibility if Toronto gets a haul in return. After averaging 17.1 points per game on 44% shooting this year, it’s clear to see where the value in Anunoby lies.

NBA Trade Rumors: Toronto Raptors star OG Anunoby is expensive.

Looking specifically at Utah and Portland, both teams could offer completely different packages. The Jazz are still putting feelers out there as they try to gauge the Rudy Gobert trade market, and the Raptors can’t be ruled out as a potential suitor. Anunoby would be the headliner in the collection of assets Toronto could trade.

The Blazers’ hypothetical package could be more enticing for Toronto. On top of the fact that Portland could send the No. 7 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to Toronto, young players like restricted free agent Anfernee Simons and guard Josh Hart could come to Canada in exchange for Anunoby.

Expect Anunoby to be back in a Raptors uniform next season. That is such a steep price to meet in a trade. However, some teams might be willing to give the Raptors an offer that is so over the top that Ujiri would be foolish to turn it down. Buckle up.
