3 Canadian prospects Raptors could add in 2022 NBA Draft
By Mike Luciano
1. Caleb Houstan, PF, Michigan
Initially mocked to the Raptors as a lottery pick, Houstan’s stock has fallen a bit after a good but not great season with the Wolverines. Still, there’s hope for Houstan if he wants to head back home to Toronto and link up with Montverde Academy teammate Scottie Barnes.
Houstan averaged just 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Making just 38.4% of his shots is not a good look for his pro prospects, but that inefficiency might be enough to help a lottery talent slide close to the second round as Toronto pounces on him.
Will Caleb Houstan join the Toronto Raptors?
Houstan’s numbers can be attributed to a very slow start. He picked things up as the year went on, showing off the 3-point shooting and offensive creation that made him one of the most hyped prospects in the country. We already know that he can play alongside Barnes.
Houstan is one of the few second-round picks who could immediately jump into the rotation. Even if the Mississauga native heads back home for a few 905 reps to start the season, Houstan is going to eventually be a viable pro player. The Raptors need to decide if they want Houstan in their squad for 2022-23 and beyond.
