1. Legit superstar + quality Infrastructure = Success

Durant is one of the greatest players who has ever lived and will ever live, but the lack of championship support around him in Brooklyn has played a part in his inability to contend for a title. Toronto is better for him in that regard thanks to the winners around him.

With an executive who has built a champion and consistent winner in Masai Ujiri, Durant will likely not clash heads with this front office. Nick Nurse can be a very demanding coach, but flashing that ring in Durant’s face could help remind him of his quality on the bench.

The Toronto Raptors can build a winner around Kevin Durant.

While Durant likely doesn’t regret leaving Golden State considering the money he’s pulling in with Brooklyn, he has to realize that the coach and general manager around him are more important than he assumed when he arrived on the Nets. Nurse and Ujiri outclass Steve Nash and Sean Marks.

The Raptors are ready to start climbing up the standings with or without Durant, but bringing Kevin to town would only make them that much more lethal and ready to take on the challenges that come with contending. They’ve done it once, and Toronto could do it again with Durant.
