Michael Jordan had two cracks at Griffin, yet chose to go in the wrong direction both times. After agreeing to terms with Kenny Atkinson before the Warriors assistant backed out, Jordan brought Steve Clifford back despite his inability to get Charlotte and Orlando over the top.

While the Hornets will get much better on the defensive end as a result of this hire, they might lose some of the offensive creativity that made LaMelo Ball and James Borrego such a tough out in the regular season. Griffin bringing the Toronto system to Charlotte could turn them around.

Toronto Raptors: Adrian Griffin could boost the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets have been stuck in mediocrity for the last few seasons, and their big solution to finally getting past that string of .500 ball is to hire someone that proved to be unable to do that several times over. Why is he a better option than Griffin?

Finch turned Minnesota into a squad that is both efficient on offense and pesky on defense. Give Griffin a player like Ball on the perimeter and Charlotte’s collection of young scorers and the Hornets could easily be good enough to finally escape the play-in.
