Tier 2: Expected All-Stars

6. Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat

5. Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

4. Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

Butler, who saw plenty of time as a power forward in smaller Heat lineups, remains Miami’s best offensive option. While he and Towns are about as different as they come from a personality perspective, they should both end up as All-Stars. Look for a big year out of Towns.

Davis could be a game-changer for the Lakers, but his body is starting to betray him. We’ve already seen him be the No. 2 option on a title-winner, and the potential for repeating is still there if he’s healthy. Barnes should take notes and watch how Davis defends in the paint.

Toronto Raptors: Will Scottie Barnes ever catch Kawhi Leonard?

Tier 1: All-NBA

3. Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers

2. Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

There may be no superstar in the NBA with whom Barnes’ game aligns more than Leonard. If he’s even 75% of his old self after the injury, his film will likely be so impressive that Barnes should study it to the point of absolute nauseum. He’s the blueprint.

Either Durant or Antetokounmpo winning an MVP would surprise absolutely no one. These two are future Hall of Famers and no-doubt top 30 players in NBA history. Anything they do on the basketball court from this moment on is simply running up the score.
