Hernangomez went from a fairly average power forward to a household name on the back of his starring role in Adam Sandler’s Hustle. On the court, Hernangomez had one of his best individual moments as a member of the Spain national team alongside his younger brother.
Hernangomez scored 27 points as Spain won Eurobasket over France. This comes after seeing his name affixed atop the cast list for one of the summer’s hottest movies. Even Nick Nurse, who has a championship ring, was a bit jealous, saying that no one had a better summer than Juancho, per Esfandiar Baraheni of TheScore.

Hernangomez will likely make the final Raptors roster, meaning that he will probably start the season on the mop-up crew who comes in after games have been decided. That said, Nurse will likely give him plenty of opportunities to prove he is deserving of a more significant role.
His Spain performance showed that when he gets hot, he can be a legitimate weapon from 3-point range. Some might assume that his lackluster play from last season makes him more sizzle than steak, but Nurse has the goods needed to get the most out of his play.
