After months of offseason speculation, the Toronto Raptors can finally get started in their quest to make to the postseason for the second year in a row. The latest Raptors odds project them as overwhelming favorites against a rebuilding team.

The Utah Jazz traded both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell in separate deals with Minnesota and Cleveland. A postseason lock which used to give Masai Ujiri’s team trouble is now making the painful decision to get much younger and start a rebuild.

While the Jazz could at least be an exciting opponent at full strength, as the mixture of Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton might be fun to watch for the extreme diehards, the backups leave a lot to be desired. This preseason game could get out of hand quickly.

Will Toronto get their exhibition schedule started off with a win in Edmonton? Is it possible that the new-look Jazz manage to confuse Canada’s team and send them tumbling to an 0-1 start? Given the uncertainty of Nick Nurse’s rotation, there is a lot we don’t know about how this game will go.

Toronto Raptors vs Utah Jazz Prediction

It’s very hard to figure out who has the edge in a preseason game, given how teams will often empty the bench, but the Raptors should be the favorites over Utah, considering many big names the Jazz parted ways with last season. Even their bench remains suspect.

Toronto will need bench players like Malachi Flynn and Christian Koloko to start hot and sustain that play in order to make sure Utah gets buried early on. If they do so, the squad can get their important 2022-23 campaign started off with a bang.
