The Toronto Raptors got the preseason off to a flying start, as they defeated the Utah Jazz 114-82 thanks to a second-half outburst. The latest Raptors odds are not too keen on them starting the preseason 2-0, however, as they are projected to fall against a division foe.
Even though the Boston Celtics are reeling from the suspension of head coach Ime Udoka, Toronto would be foolish to look past a team that made it to the NBA Finals just one season ago. Many of this Boston team’s big names will participate in this contest.
Nick Nurse’s squad will likely lean on their young bench players as they try to figure out precisely what the rotation will look like. Josh Jackson and DJ Wilson will probably play a massive part in Toronto’s plan of attack against the reigning division champions.
Will the Raptors be able to match up well against the Celtics and move to 2-0 in the preseason? Will Boston show that they are still the class of the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference by taking home a victory against Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and the rest of this group?

Otto Porter is out due to a hamstring injury, while Malachi Flynn’s status is unknown due to a cheekbone fracture.
Raptors announce that Malachi Flynn "underwent a procedure" to fix a fracture in his left cheekbone suffered in 3Q of pre-season game vs. Utah Sunday. He is expected to return before the start of the regular season, though will wear a face shield.

Willing every game by 32 points is simply not going to happen all the time, especially against a Celtics team that still ranks among the very best in the league in light of the Udoka news. Boston’s much-improved depth will be on display.
While it’s always tricky to pick preseason games due to the fact no one knows what the rotations will be until the game actually starts, Boston has enough star power to lean on. A victory may be in the cards for Boston as Toronto’s young players struggle with their unique defense.
