The Toronto Raptors are 2-0 to start the preseason, as they dominated the rebuilding Utah Jazz and sent the Boston Celtics a message thanks to an awesome 19-point comeback that led to an overtime win. The latest Raptors odds have them favored by a lot against one of the league’s bottom-feeders.

While the Houston Rockets may end up in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes this year if everything goes sour, the expectation is that this new-look roster will be a bit more competitive. No. 3 pick Jabari Smith Jr. will form a nice young nucleus with Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Tari Eason.

The Raptors have already shown that their bench is capable of leading them to preseason wins, even if the starters are a bit rusty at the beginning of their exhibition schedule. Expect more starter minutes in the first half before the bench mob decides to take over.

Will Toronto start the preseason off white hot at 3-0, led by many of the non-guaranteed players fighting for roster spots? Will the Rockets surprise Toronto by leaning on their combination of superstar youngsters and wily veterans?

Houston Rockets vs Toronto Raptors Odds, Spread, Over/Under

The latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook have Toronto as -7 favorites against the spread, with this squad -110 (bet $110 to win $100) to cover. Toronto is -300 on the moneyline, while Houston checks in at +235 (bet $100 to win $235).

Raptors Injury Report

Otto Porter is out due to a hamstring injury, while Malachi Flynn’s status is unknown due to a cheekbone fracture.

Toronto Raptors vs. Houston Rockets Prediction

As has been proven thanks to Toronto’s furious comeback against Boston on Wednesday night and their win in Edmonton, Nick Nurse’s squad is always a threat to go off on an offensive tear in the preseason. If there’s any team in the league who lacks the defensive structure to stop them, it’s Houston.

Considering how this will likely be another game the backups will play a hand in taking control of, Toronto should feel good about the chances to take this game over and establish themselves as a team that is not to be trifled with. Another victory should be expected tonight.
