Bigs

Pascal Siakam: B+

Precious Achiuwa: A

Chris Boucher: B+

Thad Young: B-

Christian Koloko: A-

Khem Birch: B+

DJ Wilson: B

Siakam has been the best of the five starters in the preseason, as an iffy Utah game was followed by 13 points against Boston and 18 points against Houston. If the Raptors can count on anything this year, it’s the excellent play of Siakam in a role of prominence.

Achiuwa has scored at least 10 points in each of his three preseason outings, showing that his offensive improvement is going to translate over to the regular season. Boucher took his lumps against Boston, but he picked up a double-double against Utah and held his own against Houston.

Pascal Siakam has led the Toronto Raptors’ big men.

Young hasn’t gone full speed yet, which isn’t an issue considering his age. Koloko has been a genuine joy to watch, as he is blocking shots and running the floor well for a 7-1 rookie. His assimilation into the rotation may come sooner than everyone expected.

Birch has been much better than he was last year, even making a few 3-pointers in a sign that he can’t be completely locked out of the rotation plans. Wilson may not make this roster, but he’s been solid enough as a rebounder and defender to give him a puncher’s chance at making it.
