The Toronto Raptors have spent the last few months tinkering incessantly to create the best team possible, and they’re finally ready to show the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers what they’re made of. The latest Raptors odds have them in line for an opening-night victory.
While an already promising Cavaliers team went for broke by acquiring Donovan Mitchell via trade, the real strength of this team may be the dynamic frontcourt duo of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Toronto had its issues when it came to defending both of them.
Nick Nurse’s team is about to begin a brutal stretch of their schedule. In their next 10 games, only one of their opponents was not a playoff team last season. Starting the season off right is imperative if they want to make noise in the postseason.
Will the Raptors get this season kicked into high gear earlt by beating a very good Cleveland team at home? Will they replicate last year’s home opener against the Wizards and muster just 83 points in a loss? Things could go in either direction.

Otto Porter is out due to a hamstring injury, and Khem Birch likely won’t play due to a knee ailment. Chris Boucher is officially listed as doubtful.

Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction
The Cavaliers can be a daunting defensive team to face off against, and Toronto’s own lack of amazing depth is going to present a major problem for Nurse’s squad. Even with that being said, there are holes on that team which can be exploited if Toronto starts off hot.
Attacking Mitchell on the defensive end and keeping Allen away from the rim on both sides of the ball should be integral parts of Toronto’s gameplan. If they can make a run against Cleveland’s own suspect bench, Canada’s team could start the season off at 1-0.
