The Toronto Raptors started off the season at 1-0, beating up on the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers in the fourth quarter thanks to a balanced effort from all five starters. However, the latest Toronto Raptors odds aren’t feeling the same level of optimism fans are.

The Brooklyn Nets started the season as poorly as possible, as Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the brakes off Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in their home opener. Ben Simmons contributing to a defense that allowed 130 points and fouling out after only scoring four points was a bad look.

Still, a team that good rarely gets embarrassed at home twice in a row. Toronto may have all sorts of momentum going for them, but they have typically played Brooklyn fairly evenly over the last few seasons, no matter who was in the lineup.

Will the Raptors continue to confuse foes with their aggressive defense and start the season at 2-0? Can the Nets even things up at 1-1 by rediscovering their ability to dominate? This matchup in Brooklyn could be very revealing.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors Odds, Spread, Over/Under

The latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook have Brooklyn as -2.5 favorites against the spread, with this squad -108 (bet $108 to win $100) to cover. Brooklyn is -134 on the moneyline, while Toronto checks in at +114 (bet $100 to win $114).

The over-under is 226, with the over and the under both at -110.

Raptors Injury Report

Otto Porter Jr. and his hamstring injury are out for the second straight game, while the hobbled Chris Boucher and Khem Birch are both listed as questionable.

Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction

While Nick Nurse’s team might be expected by some to completely blitz through the Nets thanks to their unique style of play, I have a hard time seeing a team with that much talent fresh off getting blown up at home losing a second game in a row. Simmons won’t get four points again.

Toronto has the skills needed to get to the paint against a suspect defense, but do they have the necessary perimeter game to keep up with a Nets team that can catch fire instantly? The Raptors have shown they can topple the Nets in the past, but the Durant X-factor might be too tough to overcome.
