1. O.G. Anunoby puts up All-Star-worthy numbers

Siakam being an All-Star is as close to a lock as possible, as he’s simply one of the best players in the game. Anunoby, on the other hand, faces a much steeper path to that lofty tier. Even with that qualification, only a true Raptors hater will deny him a trip to Salt Lake City if he keeps playing like this.

Anunoby is averaging 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, though he bumped his scoring up to 22.0 points per game when Siakam was unable to go. If defense matters to voting and determining who has performed the best, Anunoby’s 2.4 steals per game should help check that box.

O.G. Anunoby is dominating for the Toronto Raptors.

Considering the time Siakam has missed this year, Anunoby has been the team’s most valuable player this season. While Fred VanVleet’s 2021-22 season may eclipse Anunoby’s in terms of raw points per game, O.G. might just be having the better year when it comes to two-way impact.

This year might be the one where Anunoby finally gets the respect he deserves from the national media landscape. After years of being relegated to second-fiddle status behind some of Toronto’s more prominent names, his blend of efficiency, hustle, and defensive excellence will help him get that elusive ASG nod.
