Cons

The Raptors are playing without many of their big names, as O.G. Anunoby has been out for the last few games, and Precious Achiuwa has missed more than half of Toronto’s games. What can Nurse do when Juancho Hernangomez is starting and playing heavy minutes?

The Raptors won’t be bad enough to end up with a player like Victor Wembanyama to Scoot Henderson, barring some unforeseen lottery luck. Is it worth bottoming out that hard if you end up with the No. 7 pick?

If they go in this direction, the quality in the Atlantic Division is so impressive that Toronto may be relegated to the bottom of that group for quite some time.

Will the Toronto Raptors be too hasty in selling off players?

With Siakam and Fred VanVleet likely to earn long-term contracts in the offseason, the Raptors will likely have all of their big names locked in for the next few years. They can’t commit to a full rebuild if these players are on the floor, so will Ujiri just go 50% on this teardown?

The Raptors are not in a market where free agents can flock to them irrespective of performance, so putting out a stable, professional, successful product every season is incredibly important. This makes it harder for Toronto to pull itself out of the depths, even with stars like Siakam in the fold.
