Final Verdict

The Raptors need to wait until the new year before fully committing to a direction. This upcoming stretch is going to be where Toronto finds out what they’re made of, and they need to see if they can manage to claw out enough victories and somehow move higher up the standings.

The Raptors have shown a propensity for mixing things up when their roster stagnates (hello, Kawhi Leonard), but that seems like a move that could be better served in the offseason after a few months of planning. This is a franchise-altering decision, so the Raptors can’t be rash.

The Toronto Raptors need to find the right trade.

The Raptors will make some sort of move at the trade deadline. Toronto may need to wait until some of the other teams in the league start to either make a charge or fade away, as it will establish a list of teams who may be willing to engage Ujiri on trade talks.

It may seem hard to have trust in Ujiri right now, considering how he has constructed a roster that is incapable of defending despite that being the mission statement for this season. However, he’s helped make this team a winner several times owner. He’s worth the benefit of the doubt in this instance.
