Shooting Guard: Dyson Daniels, New Orleans Pelicans

If you thought Anthony was getting the short end of the stuck due to his teammates taking shots away, Daniels, the No. 8 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, is getting even less of a shot in New Orleans. He’s averaging fewer than five points per game, as CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram have many of the perimeter-oriented roles locked down tight.

There’s still reason to believe that a 6-8 guard like Daniels could eventually evolve into a long-term stalwart for Toronto. A tremendous ball-handler and passer who plays like all of the uber-versatile stars Ujiri dreams about, Daniels as the de facto point guard in this offense could give Toronto a ridiculously high ceiling in the next few years.

Raptors trade rumors: Will the Pelicans trade Dyson Daniels?

The Pelicans have an abundance of depth and draft picks that they can leverage to acquire a star. If McCollum is going to be the long-term answer at point guard, the need for Daniels will become even more marginalized. Perhaps Toronto can take him off New Orleans’ hands?

Daniels will need to be assertive offensively and prove that all of the talk about his game actually translates into him becoming a high-end talent. If everything clicks, the Raptors might steal a decade-long two-way stud from the Pelicans.
