Power Forward: Jonathan Kuminga, Golden State Warriors

The Warriors should be taking calls on all of their promising young players, as Kuminga, Moses Moody, and frequent Raptors link James Wiseman are not doing much to assert themselves as long-term contributors. Of those three, Kuminga might be the one that has the highest athletic ceiling to work with.

Kuminga, who has developed a reputation as one of the most athletic young players in the league, has averaged 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game on 50% shooting. The Raptors are never going to turn down a premium athlete at any position, and Kuminga is a perfect mound of clay for this staff to work with.

The Toronto Raptors could develop Jonathan Kuminga.

While he has some intriguing defensive potential, his skills on that end are more projection than tangible success at this moment. That doesn’t mean that he can’t eventually become a high-end stopper, especially on a team that is still trying to stockpile as many players who play a very similar style.

Kuminga is going to be a starter somewhere, but Golden State’s desire to milk one more title out of Steph Curry could be at odds with their alleged motivation to develop the former top recruit. Toronto will give him a very long runway, taking full advantage of his natural athletic gifts along the way.
