The Toronto Raptors are finally starting to come to the realization that this team, as currently constructed, is not good enough to compete for the playoffs anytime soon. Trades could be in order, with the disgruntled OG Anunoby making a ton of sense as a potential chip that can be moved.

Anunoby may not have had the offensive improvement that Toronto hoped for when the offseason began, but he remains an elite defender that should end up on an All-Defensive team in the near future. Teams all across the league will be trying to secure his services.

The Raptors are reportedly being contacted by contenders from far and wide, with the Knicks reportedly willing to give up as many as three first-round draft choices in order to get Anunoby in blue and orange. New York’s offer is very tantalizing, but the Raptors must also look west for added support.

These three trades will set up Anunoby for success with a new contending home while simultaneously giving the Raptors so many quality assets that can help them turn their ship around in short order that they would be fools not to consummate this deal.

Raptors trade rumors: 3 big OG Anunoby trades

Trade No. 1: OG Anunoby moves to Memphis

The Grizzlies have Ja Morant and a parade of shooters around him, giving them a proven formula for success in the modern NBA that has taken them to second place in the Western Conference. They might need to make a move for a player like Anunoby if they want to vault into that high-end tier of NBA contenders.

Williams may not be a great shooter, but a Top 10 pick from one year ago with tremendous athletic ability and two-way potential seems like a very Raptors-y addition. Roddy is one of the most unique physical specimens in the NBA. The 6-5, 250-pound wing could find a home in Toronto as he develops.

Toronto Raptors trade rumors: Memphis could land OG Anunoby.

Green isn’t going to provide as much value as he did during the title run, so his acquisition is as much a financial decision as a competitive one. With all of their future firsts in their possession, Memphis should feel fine tossing in two here. Their first-round pick this year is No. 29 overall currently, so it lacks tremendous value.

Memphis, despite all of its recent success, has quite a bit to go before it can be considered a free agent hub. Trading is the best way to get Morant a co-star, and Anunoby can fill that role without completely gutting Memphis’ collection of assets.
