Raptors vs Bulls injury report for February 28: Is Fred VanVleet playing?
By Mike Luciano
The Toronto Raptors were slapped in the face by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, as a squad that lacked Fred VanVleet was unable to match the Cavsβ hustle and efficiency from 3-point range. Nick Nurse is likely hoping for a very quick turnaround against a play-in contender.
The Chicago Bulls, like Toronto, have been incredibly disappointing this season. Just one year removed from earning the No. 6 seed, a team led by DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine has found themselves clawing for space in the play-in festivities alongside Toronto.
The Raptors have faced the Bulls twice this season, winning in impressive fashion at home before getting manhandled the next day in Chicago. With Toronto healthier and ready to go on the attack, the rubber match in this series will be incredibly important when it comes to determining playoff seeding.
Toronto has had success against Chicago in the past, but nothing can be guaranteed after the Cleveland stinker.
Fred VanVleet injury status tonight vs. Bulls
After VanVleet welcomed his third child to his family, Fred is going to suit up against Chicago. Hopefully for the Raptors, he can catch fire post-childbirth as he did in the 2019 postseason.
Is Lonzo Ball playing vs. Raptors?
Ball is not playing against Toronto, and there is a good chance that he may never play again in a Bulls uniform. Bulls executive Arturas Karnisovas has already confirmed that Ball, who hasnβt even played 40 games in two seasons, will be shut down for the remainder of the season.
Full Raptors injury report vs. Bulls:
VanVleet coming back means that the only player who will be out for Toronto in this game will be Otto Porter Jr. He is out for the season due to a foot problem that limited him to just eight games.
Full Bulls injury report vs. Raptors:
In addition to Ball missing this game, Chicago will be without much-loathed former Raptors guard Goran Dragic and forward Javonte Green, as both are currently dealing with knee injuries.
Raptors upcoming schedule and opponents:
The Raptors will start a two-game series against a play-in contender in the Washington Wizards. This precedes a long West Coast road trip.
