2023 NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Spurs, Raptors land star guards
By Mike Luciano
Ware has been very disappointing this season, barely starting and shooting poorly. He’ll need a year in the G League, but Portland might be able to give him the time needed to become an elite two-way stud.
Rupert is a total shot in the dark, as he is 6-7 with a 7-3 wingspan, yet lacks a clear position. Memphis has a developmental system that can take advantage of such a unique talent.
Wilson might fall a bit due to him being a four-year starter and poor shooter, but a versatile defender and tough finisher inside are just what this Kings team needs off the bench.
Smith hasn’t shot above 40% in any individual season at NC State, but his ability to stuff the stat sheet and high-end athletic ability will help supercharge the Indiana bench.
NBA Mock Draft: The Jazz could develop Leonard Miller
Miller is incredibly raw, but Utah’s frontcourt depth and long-term vision could allow them to take the Canadian product and work on all the tantalizing offensive tools he has.
A traditional 3-and-D wing who is starting to make improvements as a create, Lewis will only be a long-term piece with the Pacers if he proves he can succeed against NBA-level athletes.
Hawkins has exploded this season, as his offensive potential finally caught up with him after showing some quality on-ball defense. Hawkins could be a solid piece on the Charlotte bench.
The Clippers will end the first round with Tubelis, who is almost averaging a double-double for the Wildcats this season. He’s not a good athlete, but his offensive potential is impressive.
