The contract: Three years, $20 million (2012)

A second-round pick by the New York Knicks, Landry Fields became one of the hidden gems. He ended up being a great find for the Knicks and the Raptors look to take advantage of their developmental work. During the 2012 offseason, Toronto signed Fields to a three-year offer sheet that New York would end up declining to match. It would end up being another misstep for the Raptors.

The downward trend after his sensational rookie season would continue for Field in his third season in the league (his first with Toronto). Fields struggled mightily for the Raps during that first season in which he averaged just five points and four rebounds on 14 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Landry Fields never got off the ground for the Toronto Raptors.

Above all, however, you can blame a big part of Fields’ struggles on the injuries that he had to deal with during his time in Toronto. He had to overcome multiple injuries and was never truly himself again.

During his three seasons in Toronto, Fields just appeared in 107 games. During his first season, he averaged 20 minutes per game. By the time season three rolled around for Fields, he was playing in eight minutes per contest.
